As I Am: Poetry & Art

The Chaotic Center - 11" x 14" acrylic on canvas panel

I was held in the Embrace,
cradled against every form of
suffering I'd known

The shower of his loving grace soothed
the dead places within,
pits of ice from which parts of
my soul had never returned

Before His arms encircled me
I had been as the Living Dead;
Now fragments of a once whole Self
confessed through mute tears

Kissing my face with gentleness,
fingers like invisible feathers,
His touch whispered:
"I will never hurt you."

And I surrendered to that truth,
healed in warm shadows,
revitalized in the knowledge
of seeing Myself through His eyes
As I Am.
