Remembrance: Poetry & Art

Memory Surge - 11"x 14" acrylic on canvas panel

Standing still, catching everything,
I am stunned by the seconds
as they brush my palms

I realize my inner vision distorts
only when I move with
the currents of distraction

Now I hear the call of desert sands,
remembering the smell of the Nile
and the feel of white linen on burnished skin

I clutch my fists to my heart,
eyes wide with a feverish
kind of awakening to memory

Where every vision blooms
familiar as the old paradigms
fall away like rain

Leaving blue skies
clear with the knowledge:
I Am As I Am.
