Minerva (or Arachne's Answer): Poetry

Note: This is Minerva's response to the poem Arachne.

~

I, too, have learned
the toll of arrogance and sin,
besting you in a contest
I knew you could not win

Even a Goddess is not absolved
from the hands of Fate
Mankind now regards me
with an irrelevance I hate

So today we meet in the center,
both wiser than before
You are stronger, I am weaker
in the scope of myth and lore

For this, I will grant you
one last thing within my control,
that you claim your place
among us as an immortal, whole:

Exoneration.
