So I Weep: Poetry

My soul empties out into
The core of my being
There, wrapped in a cocoon
I seek to protect myself
From the world

So there is no more
Pain and harsh words
And things I do not understand
Writing along a stream and
Thinking that life can’t quite
Ever be the same
Buildings gone, angry and
Rage in their steed, so much
Hostility in this world,
So I weep
My tears have been a
Stream of unending sorrows,
Lamenting in the desert
Of my reality
Waiting for the mirage
To be the real thing
I’ve been a mask
even unto Myself
Now I've been stripped
of all these things
Save what I could carry
with my two hands
How do I mend my broken heart?
