"OM" & Other Thoughts: Poetry

The pain rides in
waves as if seeking
I close my eyes and
utter "OM" until
it dissipates to a dull roar
The total weight
the shoulders can bear is
the cumulative sum
of every action and reaction
you've ever known
Days ago,
I saw the sky as I did
when I was five:
puffy white dragons drifting
across a blue lagoon
of fantasy,
it was so beautiful
that tears welled in
my eyes for the things
we have forgotten to see
I move now in slow-motion,
my body cannot keep up
with the race
Yet never before has the
world stood out to me
in living poetry
every moment
as it does now
I will love
as if it is
the last day
I will ever see.
