Kissed: Poetry

And these hugs
In parting,
Recalling energy
Too long gone
To notice,
the winter air
said your name
And you held me
then in the cold

~

When I’d rather
Let my world grow
Smaller,
You are asking me
To open up
And be a part of
Something larger:
us

~

How long
Have I hated?

~

The warmth inside
your embrace,
Soft and silken,
Majestic like a labyrinth
Full of
love and light
And heart
Inside,
Ever glowing,
Coupling with
you and your knowledge
and grace and language

~

I turn to you,
open,
offering myself
You dip your head
To kiss, to sample,
To savor,
lingering with
my mouth
And I kissed you back

So came fourth
Realization
that sirens and burdens
And deaths are
swallowed whole
by love

~

This world with all
Its contradictions
Makes the brain weary,
and your arms,
this elliptical sanctuary,
makes the heart sigh...
