No Damn Peace: Poetry

Sometimes you hate
everything and everyone
As if you could just shut
your eyes and it would
all just go away

This trying, struggling,
straining gets you no damn peace
It all becomes a facade
whose lie you must not betray

There's so many errant screams,
so much crimson pain
Pressed into the skin like
needle pricks filled with acid rain

And they say you've got to
persevere,
let it go and be at rest
But this world doesn't recognize you
if you're just second best

You've got those adrenaline sighs
and a poisoned dream
that one day you'll wake from this
world and its Botoxed gleam

They say you've got to just keep going,
hold your breath and wait
But what can you do when you're
oxygen-starved except give in and faint?

You've got this angry riddle
and the troll won't let you pass
For every step that you take,
the next lands you on your ass

This trying, struggling,
straining gets you no damn peace
It all becomes a facade
whose ruse you must not betray
There's no way to just release
'Cause it don't amount to much anyway...
