Here: Poetry

How can you look at me,
dark eyes
so full of love,
when I find myself here
drifting in tides
I can't even name?

It's as if I've fallen
like Alice into another world,
viewing it all through a prism
of what I used to know

But here this is your view
and I'm just a participant,
a character penciled in by
an author I can't see

I sit here asking myself,
if I'm even relevant
Because I can't fathom
what it is you glimpse in me

Yet with one touch,
my eyes whisper closed
and I'm transported to a place
that rests next to your heart

With each beat,
I am reinvented and cared for,
even if I do not understand it,
I don't think I need to

I'm just here...
